National Trademark USPTO Appearance

Today, I made my first appearance as Mrs. Montgomery County International at the national USPTO trademark expo.

We made it a family affair and the girls came along with mom (Chance had to work unfortunately). Initially, the girls were not thrilled about going but upon our arrival they started screaming "is this our vacation." I said "no, our vacation is in Pennsylvania" but my oldest daughter, Vanessa, quickly corrected me by saying the brochure have them in it. I looked up and saw the Hershey Kiss and bar and immediately understood what she meant. Since this was a trademark expo many trademark figures and characters were on hand for picture taking.

We learned so much about trademarks. I was very surprised at how educational the patent and trademark office was. Inside they have a trademark museum which gives the history about popular and not so known trademarks and had great inventions and patents available for viewing (these are available all year long.) The expo was very interactive and had many famous brands such as Firestone tires, McDonald's, Mickey Mouse, Fedex, Barbie, NASCAR, Catepillar, Miscrosoft and many others. My girls favorite was the Burberry exhibitors. Vanessa said she had to go see the "pocketbooks" before leaving. They were gorgeous but what I most remembered was the exhibitor teachingt us how to detect an authentic versuses replica Burberry item. After speaking with her I think I will only shop at official brand retailers from now on.

I had a ball at the national trademark expo and would definately encourage others to attend next year if their schedules permit.
