Today, we had our second Girl Scouts meeting at the Takoma Park Recreation Center. As customary we began with snack, the Girl Scouts Promise and Girl Scouts Law. The topic for the meeting was
"Playing Around the World." We played a game from England called "Kim's Game" in which we placed 10 items on a table, had the scouts view the items, then covered them and finally had them try to remember what was on the table. Next we played the American favorite "Red light, green light." The scouts had a ball playing this especially with the twist on the actions performed for each light signal invented by troop co-leader Ms. Renee.
This meeting had "tagalongs" present. These are the younger siblings to our scouts who are either too young to join Girl Scouts or are boys. My own daughter Jade is currently a "tagalong" in addition to two other siblings.
I can see the scouts already forming new friendships and learning the principles behind being a Girl Scout.
