Breakfast with the Dolphins

Today, Girl Scout troop 6037 families enjoyed breakfast with the dolphins at the National Baltimore Aquarium.

Continental breakfast was the precursor to a great up close private training exhibit of the dolphins and their trainers. We learned the genetic makeup of these mammals, what their life is like in the wild, and some of the dangers they face while living on their own. Next the trainers shared their experience of working with these super friendly mammals. Finally, there was a question and answer period where the scouts in attendance could ask any questions they had. Jade asked where was Jade (one of the dolphins shared my daughter's name) and Vanessa asked if the dolphins were able to have babies while living at the aquarium.

Next, we visited the rest of the aquarium where we saw stingrays, sea turtles, sharks and an assortment of other fish. Vanessa was the luck recipient of a stingray tooth that one of the divers allowed her to examine and keep.

Finally, we watched the official dolphin show which was had general admission for everyone interested in watching. The theatre was packed to it's gills (pun intended). The dolphins performed many tricks and really showed us their stuff including dosing us with large amount of water from the pool. Next time we visit I will head the "splash zone" signs and not sit in these areas :)
