Tonight was the final gathering of Girl Scouts troop 6037 for the 2009 scouting year.
Troop 6037 have been very busy since our first meeting on April 10th. To date we held two court of awards ceremonies, earned six "try-it's" and attended the Step Showcase, Zoo Animal Safari, Girl Scouts Day at Six Flags, Maestro Mouse is in the House, Overnight with the Washington Mystics, Family Night with the Washington Kastles and had breakfast with the dolphins at the Baltimore Aquarium.
Tonight we concluded our first year of girl scouting with our court of awards ceremony. Twelve of our original 14 member troop is returning for scouting year two. We are eager to make new friendships with incoming Brownies and to continue the ones we currently have.
I have gained so much for my scouts this year. I feel as if they are a part of my extended family and I love them as if they were my own children. Also it has been a very enriching experience to have met and worked with the parents of my scouts...each of these parents know that the support they give their child has lasting effects and shape who they will become as adults. This piece of knowledge is priceless.
It has been an amazing journey that just keeps getting better! I can't wait for what year two of Girl Scouting holds.
