Royal Pen Pals

LaQuisha Hall, Mrs. Maryland Earth 2010, created a program called Royal Pen Pals which I joined last year for this upcoming year.

The premises behind the program are:

1. Write the letter by hand and send via postal mail (no Facebook messages or email)
2. Write at least one letter a month beginning in February 2010 (at least 11 notes/cards are due to your pal by December 2010).
3. Purchase your Royal Pen Pal a small crown gift to encourage them during their national competition. This gift must be sent by June 1, 2010. (There is no minimal dollar amount for this purchase)
4. BE POSITIVE and encourage your pal! It is wonderful to share information about you, but the goal of this project is to write beautiful words to encourage another person. This is not just having a pen pal, but offering encouraging words to someone that is often not heard in the world of pageantry.
5. BE CREATIVE! No one wants a scribbled letter written on a napkin from a restaurant! Since you are only required to write your Royal Pen Pal once a month, please sit down and take the time to create something unique that your pal will treasure!
6. Do NOT speak negatively of any other person in any correspondence sent.7. Share your address with your Royal Pen Pal. You will be sending your own letters! :D
8. Send me a Facebook message every time you RECEIVE a note. This is to ensure that all who sign up are being effective participants. In addition, the 2010 Positive Pageant Person of the Year Award will be sent to the 2010 Royal Pen Pal who sends the most letters! The winner will receive a prize (mailed on July 31, 2010) and an award winner button for their blog or website. 9. Exchange a Christmas gift during the month of December! By this time, you should know your Royal Pen Pal enough to discover a gift they will love! The value of the gift must be a minimum $25.
10. Have FUN!! :D

I was matched with the phenominal Rebecca Crosen, Mrs. Piedmont International, who is competing on February 14, 2010 for the Mrs. Virginia International title. I am so excited to encourage her this year. Click on the photo to the right to visit Rebecca's blog.
