On yesterday, I met with Sarah Harris, the principal of Washington Yu Ying to discuss plans for the March 19, 2009 book distribution fair. She was very interested in knowing how her and her staff could best accommodate Beginning the Journey to facilitate a great experience for the students as they embark on their first encounter with Reading Is Fundamental (RIF). I shared the RIF history, mission and vision with her and then proceeded to detail the days activities which she became increasingly excited about.
I am now awaiting demographic information on the student body ratio of Yu Ying to make the best book selections for the school.
Also today, I shared with principal Harris details about the Letters from the Whitehouse contest which she plans to share with the English teachers so that Yu Ying students can participate in this worthwhile contest.
