Girl Scouts

As many of you know I have wanted Vanessa to do Girl Scouts for many years. Each time I have contacted the Girl Scout office I have been told there is a wait list for Takoma Park. This time the service unit manager told me something different in addition to the usual message. She told me that I could start a troop of my own and serve as its leader. I instantly became excited because as an elementary school student I was a Girl Scout for all of three weeks until our group dismantled.

With the leader on the telephone I completed the leadership volunteer application and submitted my references. This is the first phase of becoming a leader. I am so excited because my serving as troop leader will aford me the missed experience of participating in Girl Scouts as a youth while offering my daughter her own experience of sisterhood and leadership development.
