Reading Is Fundamental VOYA Nomination Award

This past week LaQuisha confirmed (and triple confirmed) that we could share a few moments together after the March for Babies walk because she had a surprise for me. Honestly, I was scared to death because I like surprising others (especially my girls) but my "type A" personality hates not being in control of any situation that directly affects me :) I tried to relax though because I know LaQuisha is an amazing lady and does not have a mean bone in her body.
To my great surprise and shock LaQuisha presented me with my framed nomination certificate for the 2009 Reading is Fundamental Volunteer of the Year nomination award. LaQuisha nominated me for this award earlier this year after learning that there was an annual award. Along with the certificate came a silver RIF pin for the nominator and gold pin for the nominee. Now both of our sashes have RIF pins...these pins are reserved only for nominees and nominators and can not be purchased anywhere (yes, I searched for one to include on my Mrs. Montgomery County International sash) to no avail.
I am humbled that LaQuisha felt my efforts with RIF were worthy to be consider for the Volunteer of the Year Award. The winners for the 2009 awards were:

Unit I
Falkville, Alabama

Unit II
Irvine, Kentucky

Unit III
Monterey, California
