Cole Brother's Circus

Today, we celebrated Jade and Emily's birthday by attending the Cole Brother's Circus in Waldorf, MD. This circus was exactly what I remembered as a child.

Upon arrival, a patron could ride an elephant, camel or numerous other attractions, have his face painted or visit with a clown with the sweet smell of cotton candy, popcorn, hot dogs and FUNNEL CAKE in the air. This time I could not resist the funnel cake...it was scrumptious and worth every calorie :)

The show was under a large tent and we had VIP seats so we were up close to everything. The show included motorcycle riders within a giant metal dome, tight rope walkers (the youngest being 10 years old), jugglers, an educated mule who solved math problems, butterfly dancers who did acrobatics in the air, belly dancers, "kios" the daredevil who did tricks in the air on the moving wheel, dancing camels, high jumping dogs and of course the stars of the show 3 large elephants. The highlight of the night for me though was the man (kios) being shot out of the cannon which ended the night with a big bang.

I think we will make it an annual trip to see the Cole Brother's Circus in addition to our usual junket to watch Ringling Brother's since the girls had so much fun. Vanessa said it was the best show she has ever been to which says a lot because we attend about one show per month. Jade said she had a blast for her birthday and Emily said "Daddy can we come again tomorrow?"
