My Mrs. Maryland All American Goals

I feel so blessed to have acquired the Mrs. Maryland All American title. For so long I have wanted to be my state's official representative for a national Mrs. competition.

Since being awarded the title I have had numerous thoughts run through my mind. What impact do you want to make on your community? How do you want to be remembered? What would make your experience unforgettable? If you could achieve just one thing, what would it be?

I think as a state representative I should not just visit my local area but instead provide support and encouragement to all citizens within my great state. My goal is to visit each county at least once (there are 23 in Maryland in addition to Baltimore City) and complete a service project while there if possible.

I really want to get out and be a visible queen that serves her community. I also want to experience the glamor of being a "hometown celebrity" by participating in parades, grand openings and other red carpet events...which queen wouldn't. A large part of my advocacy work thus far has been behind the scenes eg. board meetings, training volunteers, fundraising and organizing children empowerment events. Over the years I have seen the power and opportunities a state title affords it's owner so I am hoping that as Mrs. Maryland All American I will realize my dream of becoming a sought after spokesperson for children's literacy and empowerment.

If you are a reader of my blog and live in Maryland and know of an upcoming event in your county please email me at petagaylewis@yahoo.com Hopefully, we will get the opportunity to meet.
